Be careful out there
« on: November 21, 2011, 05:06:27 PM »
Please be careful out there everyone.  There were 2 hunters killed this past weekend here in southern Indiana.

First was a gentleman in his 60s who was small game hunting.  When he went to place his shotgun on his golf cart after the hunt it went off hitting him in the chest.  His family found him when they went looking for him later.  This took place in the county north of where I live.

The second was a 15 year old boy whose gun discharged while he was lowering it from his tree stand, hitting him in the abdomen.  He died in the hospital.  This took place less than 2 miles from my house.

Prayers going up for both of these families.

My Prayers go Out to any and All families who loose loved ones like this.  Be careful is right.  Also remind you non-hunting neighbors and friends that if they are going to venture out in the woods during Firearms season to wear a blaze orange hat - if they don't have one GIVE THEM ONE!!

Good reminder...a 19yr old and buddy stopped to rest as they dragged the 19's buck out...he leaned the gun on a stump...it fell over and discharged....hitting him in the side of head...DOS....please if it's loaded ...unload or at least check safety and lay flat on ground

Sad to here about this type of thing, it's so preventable. Unload you guns before climbing or descending and before you put them in or on your ride. We don't want anyone to get hurt, especially our TH friend and their families. Don't be afraid to call your friends down for unsafe practices that might save their lives!
