heflinsi Hunting Journal
« on: November 20, 2011, 12:00:42 PM »
Ok yesterday I'm in the ones for the first time this year, the wind is blowing the leaves are rustling.  I'm not seeing anything moving so I decide to give a test grunt, nothing happens then I tickle my new Rattle Box.  Nothing very frantic, I wait fifteen minutes and tickle again.  This time I hear something moving through the leaves but still can't see anything.  I wait a couple of minutes and try it again, this time I definitely hear something moving my way so I take a deep breath and wait to see what it is.  Finally after what seems like forever I spot some movement and he's definitely coming my way, still not in range yet but coming my way.  As he drops down into a gully where I can't see him I use the Rattle Box again, he's definitely coming my way now trying to get a look at the two bucks that are in his area.  As he comes up the draw he is a little more cautious and has slowed down but he's almost in range....40 yards then 30...easy now...he's not aware that I'm anywhere around,,,,he's going to pass about 25 yards north of me...as he enters the clearing...I clear my throat loudly and ask...WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY....the kids about craps his pants.....he goes to stuttering and trying to explain....LOL I'll bet he never comes back again.... I got his name address and picture, I told him I would be giving it to the game warden since I had problems with tresspassers last year...he was scared to death!
