Central Virginia Rut Progress
« on: October 27, 2011, 04:17:57 PM »
On October 23rd I started seeing the young bucks trying to push the doe, October 24 saw my first scrap and yesterday I found my first true scrap line with licking branches over two of the five scraps.  I had found two bushes that have been totally destroyed (October 26th) and a rub line close to the scrap line.

I predict the "Big Boys"  will start dogging the doe within the next week.  If all goes the way it has in the past the hotest part of the rut will hit around the 10th of November.

TOday, November 11, the doe have finally put the boots to the button and spike bucks they have let hang around them.  The buttons were well away.  I have not seen any mature bucks out with the doe as of yet but the full oon will probably change that overnight!!

11/20 this is the first day I have seen anything in the way of rut behavior.  Right ow I have a mature 6 point buck locked down with a doe behind my barn (70 yards from my house),  No hunting on Sunday in Virginia....hope they are there tomorrow (or close).
