From the looks of the trailcam pics and after talking to a friend hunting near the panhandle last week, the bucks have split up and in hiding.  This was about 7-10 days ago.  This happens in this area every year and it lasts for about a week.  They should be cruising by now.  A cool front is blowing in and the weather is right to kick off the action.  I don't expect peak rut until late November but the chasing should start very soon.  I'll be in the stand for the next 3 days and will update this post on my return.

They did go without me and NO they didn't get my buck!  @--0--0118  Both of them shot and missed at a doe each!  --099-780  Carma I guess.

He's still there coming to the feeders every single night.  The earliest I got him on cam was 8:36 pm just after dark.  Other than that he comes and goes all throughout the night and morning.

I think I know where he beds and the wind today and in the mornning should be perfect to drift some magic his way.  I'm hoping that with a little light rattling may bring him over.  My stand is about 200 yds from where I think he is bedding.

After getting to the lease and viewing all the trailcam pics it appears the bucks may be still feeding together.  I either have pics of doe's together at the feeders or bucks together....no singles yet.  But my batteries went dead on 10/22 so I have no pics since then.

After hunting 3 days (Oct 27-29) I found the doe's to be out and very active.  I only saw one buck (yearling spike).  Until Friday evening when I witnessed a big mature buck work over a scrape.  He was by himself.  I watched him posture around downwind of two doe's but he never approached them.  They didn't like him being there and walked off.  I think they are just starting their scraping and splitting up.  I feel the chase will be on in another two weeks or so and the rut should peak around the 15th-20th of November.

I went huntin' Friday night (Denton Co.) and saw a little 6-pt and he was trying to tend a couple of does. He ran off another little buck then hung out with the girls for awhile. At one point she went out in the field and lifted her tail straight up just standing there so I don't know if they're coming 'in' or what.
I think with this cold front coming in they might get to movin' more, maybe I should hunt tonight...
Just some observations...

It's heating up.  My hunting buddy hunted this evening and called with a report.  He witnessed a buck chasing doe's around.  He said all the doe's were frisky and showing off.  One, he said literally got on her knees and stuck her tail in the air in front of the buck while he was eating at the feeder.  I've never seen that before.  But from all indications it is getting started.  I'll be out there the next 4 days and will report what I see when I return.

It's definately on hot and heavy.  I only saw young bucks running around with their tongues hanging out chasing the does.  I didn't see one single mature buck all weekend.  The big ones are still running at night.  I hunted hard and spent a LOT of time in the blind.  The wind was terrible Thursday-Sunday.  Every night coming out and driving by all the wheat fields deer were everywhere.  The wheat is up about 3-4 inches and a lot of the deer have moved to properties bordering the fields.  But it is on.  Second week of November would have been great if the wind wasn't gusting 40mph!!!  @--0--0122
