I think it's heating up now. Saw some chasing yesterday and then about an hour later, 3 doe walked by with a spike trailing about 25 minutes behind them nose to the ground on their trail.  Today I had a doe bedded down about 27 yards from my tree for a bout 30 minutes with a medium sized 6 or 8 point around her the whole time grunting away scraping and rubbing until she finally got up and walked away with him in tow!

Hmm, looks like we need somebody from Western New York to start a Rut Observation thread!  I know, I'll be there the week of Thanksgiving so my begging for information has officially started!

Well I hope if they are getting some rut signs it's just the beginning of it.  I won't be there to hunt until the shotgun opener on Nov. 19th, still 11 days away and hopefully near the peak of the rut.

should be viking...usually their frantic a few days before but I think the rut is going to be full blown during the opener ..... once the shooting starts though sometimes they hide for awhile....depends on the area....its starting to get more sign everyday....tomorrow I'll do a little turk hunting myself alone and check my area out and get the cameras unloaded.....I'll let ya know....DPD

The warm spell in the beginning of last week (Mon, Tues, & Wed) seemed to shut things down but the cooling temps picked up rutting activity Thur.  Saw 4 bucks Thursday morning and even called one in with the can but no shots - Passed on three, two were smaller bucks, one would have been an 8 pt but one whole side of his rack was broken off.  The decent size 6 or 8 Pt I called in with the can busted me before he made it into range.
Things should be heating up really good now if the weather would cool off again! Good luck all!
