Well guys and gals it's time for me to kick off the journal for this year. It's a few short days (10 and counting) to be exact till I get to kick off my season for this year. As with the last couple of years I will be starting out in South Carolina again. Still searching for that elusive velvet buck, I want to get one that is good enough to be mounted. Never have taken one in velvet and I hope this is the year. My hunt will start on the 23rd of this month and I am so excited to get in the woods. Maybe if luck is with me I can get GRAND SLAM INC. off to a flying start in the deer championship. Gutshot best of luck on the bear hunt while I'm trying to score points for us down here, hope you get a good bear. Report back in soon. -00-9

Well guys I had a great morning set today. Got in the stand around six or so and could make out a couple of deer down the shooting lane, but not enough to tell what they were. Around 7:20 or so I had two does cross the road below me about 200 yards and ten minutes or so later a nice young buck still in velvet came out in the same general area. He stopped just long enough for me to get a decent look at him and then went on his way. So no BBD yet but it was a great morning to be in the WOODS.

Well no luck there again this year. Now it's bow season at home or in Kentucky for my next chance.  Then the LBL hunt at the end if September with Dave Norval. Can't wait for that one should be a blast that weekend.

Well guys and gals tomorrow morning by this time I will be in a tree for the first time this year. I skipped the opening weekend in Kentucky this year mainly because of the hotter weather. I sure hope to let the Matthews sing a sweet death song in the morning. -00-9
