The bears know you're in the woods before you know you're in the woods.  They don't want anything to do with you and will be long gone...obviously, the reason the bear was gettin outta there.
BUT, it's better to do whatever makes you comfortable so that you can enjoy your hunt...instead of looking over your shoulder the whole time.

Can't believe you let little ol' Yogi Bear scare you away... --099-780
No need to come to Florida to fish with me.......the "lizards" in the water here may scare you just as badly.
Retired after 34 yrs. on Jacksonville (Fl.) Police Dept.  19 yrs. in patrol and last 15 yrs. in C.S.I.
Now I can hunt and go bass fishing anytime I want!  Started deer hunting in 2007 but, had many years as a teen hunting rabbits and squirrels.

I've seen several bears hunting in my area over the last couple of years.  I notice that if you do not bother them, they tend to walk away from you.  The only time I was concerned is when I walked up on a cub - no sight of momma, but I started screaming at the cub and made him run away hoping he would take momma with him.

YEP! I would have done the same thing!
When I die bury me where I can hear the turkeys gobble in the Spring time.
