Say yes to Michigan Turkey
« on: April 27, 2011, 08:54:49 PM »
I was starting to believe all the Turkeys had left my area.  I hunted all day on Friday and Saturday morning until noon and I did not see or hear anything.  We went in for lunch and we decided to take a drive just to see if any Turkeys were in the fields.  One thing we learned was the Turkeys must be in the woods.  I went straight for a tent I had set up a few weeks ago in the middle of the woods. I set up my decoys and waited 15 minutes for everything to settle down.  The first time I called on my slate call this big Tom came running and Gobbling his head off.  He walked straight up to on of my hen decoy and I shot him at 25 yards.  It was just like one of those videos you watch on TV. It was a good day.

Congrats!  I hope to be able to get out on May.  Hopefully, I will be able to post a picture, too!

Congrats!!!

Michigan's been tough this year.  Much colder and wetter then last year.   I have not heard nearly as much gobbling this year.

Beautiful tom there, C!  How many birds can you guys take in Michigan?
They're ALL trophies...it's just that some are bigger than others!
