Looks like a Bradford Pear - my neighbor had one that was tore up like that from a hurrican two years ago.  He trimmed it heavily and it came back - good luck to you.

that's horrible. the only thing i can say, if it is uprooted, is try to stand it up and water the heck out of it. also, pack the dirt as tight as possible around the roots. i had an apple tree that went down and i did this. i had nothing to loose. i saved about 1/2 of the tree. i hope it works for you. good luck

We have a lot around here that look that way.  Glad no one got hurt by those storms in this area.
