erradicating cattails
« on: April 01, 2011, 11:56:24 AM »
Does anyone know how to get rid of cattails from a pond.  They just started to appear in my pond last year.  I tried cutting them off below the water line, but they just kept coming back.  My fish provider said to use roundup as it wouldn't hurt the fish.

Any other methods?

GOOD LUCK.  I have never seen anyone be able to get rid of them all the way.  The neighbors have the kids go around and pull them up by roots and that keeps them in check.  I have never heard about roundup on them though.

herbicide will also kill aquatic plant life so be careful with that.  You might do more damage than good.
