I have never been turkey hunting, but my 9yr. old son wants to go. So it will be both of ours first time. A friend of mine has a farm with a group of turkeys he told me that we could hunt on. My son started deer hunting at 6yr old and has taken deer every year since so I guess why not try turkey.

I already hear from him how he gets more deer than I do every year and I hope after this spring I will get to hear how he has got a turkey and I have not.

Same here... My 10 yr old is wanting to go (well, I kinda want to also  :)) and we will be going out this weekend with a buddy of mine who is an avid turkey hunter. He's gonna call up some birds and hopefully get my son on one. Should be a fun time

That's AWESOME! Several first timers and several taking young hunters on their first turkey hunt as well!

Love to hear it and looking forward to the success stories. And success doesn't mean having to get a bird... just getting out there!

Sounds like he's willing to learn which is always good. Way to go getting him introduced to it all!

I try to take some newbies out each year.  Last year I took 3 persons out for the first time, but only one got a bird.  This year I have a buddy coming with me for the MO opener.  He has hunted a couple times before but never bagged a tom.  Hope this is the year for him.
