That's awesome MT! I have always said I wouldn't hesitate to take an albino if I saw one, but I think it's awesome they protected those. It's one thing to have one "show up" when you're hunting, but I have no doubt as word got around those would be hunted down like crazy.

Very beautiful, thanks for sharing! Have you gone to see any of them?

100% albinos are protected in WI. it's fine by me. they stick out so bad, they have a hard enough time getting past the natural predators much less hunters.

I imagine. Until the snow flies, there's not much hiding for them I'm sure! Bet you could walk right by one in the snow though and never knwo it was there.  --7-8-9

There is a gas station in Antigo , WI that has a small group of deer in an outside pen and the last time that I was there there were 3 white deer in the group .

My uncle has a cabin up in boulder junction.  Might have to go hunt up there one of these years.

I never could understand protecting something that is a negative trait to have in the wild. I would shoot one in a second to be honest and not think twice about it. I was at full draw on one in 2008 when my buddy shot the #3 bow kill in the state right next to me. I was more ticked off than happy! We have a good amount of albinos in the Piedmont area of NC. Pretty frequently hear or see someone with one. Definitely have some heated debates about killing them, but the way I look at it, it's a deer. If you figure 1 in 20,000 and with all the millions of deer the US has, that's alot of white deer. Not saying they aren't cool to look at, but they are in now way "Better" than a normal whitetail. Thats my opinion anyway, we don't revere albino humans that is for sure. And they get no special protection or treatment.
