It is rare to see one that close much less in the daytime.  Lets hope he was just taking a rest after eating.

that would be neat to find an owl close up like that.  I once found a young sparrow hawk in a parking lot, of all places.  I caught him by throwing an old rag towel on him and wrapping him up in it.  I took it home to show it to my family, and then to a local bird sanctuary run by Michigan State University.  They identified it as a kestrel, or sparrow hawk.
Don't ask the Lord to guide your steps, unless you're willing to move your feet.

Great picture of seldom seen bird.  Owls always show up when you least expect them to.
