Cabela's Catalog
« on: September 20, 2008, 09:03:45 AM »
I don't know where most of u buy your hunting gear, but I like Cabela's a lot. They stand behind everything they sell, no questions asked on returns or refunds ever! I have however found a flaw in the catalog! I don't think the world's foremost outfitter is very green! as in save the environment. I have received via mail at least 6 catalogs this year already! They don't use recycled paper for any of there catalogs! How many trees have perished just due to Cabela's? I'm not a tree-hugger really! I just think they put out way too many catalogs that all really have the same stuff in each one. What do you think?

I AGREE, I USE CABELA'S ALL THE TIME AND THEY ARE GREAT, BUT THEY NEED TO CUT DOWN ON A FEW CATALOGS. WHICH WOULD HELP LOWER COST

I get an occassional catalogue from Cabela's.  Mostly I get e-mails from them that allow me to look at catalogues online.  Have you guys given them your e-mail address?  Perhaps thats the secret.

I am kinda tired of the "Green" movement referring to paper and trees. Paper is not an environmental problems because it is biodegradable and is a renewable resource. They're not cutting down the rain forest to make paper. They're not cutting down virgin oaks in Oregon to make paper. That come from the 80 billion pine trees planted each year in AL, GA, MS,LA and many other states. I have seen them cut my father in laws land for pulp after only 15 years.

No offence.... because I am into energy saving and alternative fuels and the other Green ideas, but the paper thing doesnt fit.

Talk about a lot of  catalogues, I get them from Cabels, Bass Pro shops, and whole lot of others. Used to get a couple a year and yes I have noticed over the last couple of years they are all sending more and more.

HM,
NC is another one of those Pine tree pulp states for paper, cardboard, and plywood.  Our hunting lease is one.  I am currently getting a catalog a week and got two Friday from Cabela's.  Also get the e-mails!!!  They have gotten about $600 so far in the last month from me!!!  You usually get your order within a week or less.   --9-8-7

I am a printer and in WI every publisher has to use a certain percentage of recycled fiber in every job.  Printers hate it.  The recycled stuff does not run or look as good as virgin.  If cabelas is using only virgin pulp they are paying a pretty penny for it.   Soon the feds will be determining the recycled content.  Dont worry we sell over 60% of virgin fiber paper overseas.  So us recycling means absolutly nothing.  They make the same amount of virgin stock and ship it.
