Once in a lifetime experience after an unlucky turkey day
« on: May 29, 2010, 06:49:58 PM »
The other day I went turkey hunting without success...saw & heard some but couldnt draw them away from their girlfriends..after the Hunt at noon, my wife and I decided to go on a picnic at a Forest Park in Camden, N.Y. where while eating a sandwich at a pavillion next to a creek, and having a little wine with my cheese ;D. we experienced a Bald Eagle dive into the creek and catch a fish... --7-8-9.......WOW.....in NY we do have some bald eagles but to see and experience this is a once in a lifetime in NY...made my unlucky turkey day seem more pleasant @--0--0118

that would be neat.  I have never seen a bald eagle in the wild, yet.  I have seen a snowy owl, though.  It looked like a giant bowling pin with eyes on it.

They are such a majestic bird, that had to be an awesome experience. We have several here on some of the lakes I fish and just never get tired of watching them.

In the last 3 years we had the first breeding pair setup a nest in one of the northern suburbs of Milwaukee , but have had a good number of birds that winter on the Mississippi River near La Cross . Really a site to see when they are there .

To see one diving for a fish must be amazing and lucky at that! A few years back there were a pair near my house that were feeding off a deer carcass in a field and that was neat to see. You do not realize how big they are until you see one up close.

They sure are regal birds.  Living close to the James River and Lake Anna we sometimes get them stopping by our place.
