I hope you'll have a turkey down by the time you read this.  Sounds like you have a great weekend planned.  Hope everything works out.   Looking forward to your stories and photos.  I wish I could hunt in Texas again.

Well we didn't get a turkey but we had a great weekend.  Me and my two best buds Jim and Dave headed out for the weekend.  We decided to take the jon boat and fish Saturday, then from there we went to the deer lease cabin for the night.  Sunday we planned to hunt.

The lease is on the way to Lake Davy Crocket so we stopped by the cabin and unloaded all our gear.  We headed to the lake which is only about 12 miles from there.  Y'all we had the best day of fishing.  Even though it rained all day (all weekend for that matter) we had a blast.  We suited up with the rain gear and didn't let the rain stop us.  We fished from about 3:00 in the afternoon till almost dark.  It rained the entire time but boy were them bass biting.  We probably caught 25-30 bass.  Pretty much everything we tried worked but I put on a red spinner bait with gold blades and that was the ticket.  I started hammering them pretty good and caught this bass not long after switching colors to red.  All of our thumbs were pretty tore up at the end of the day from being wet all day and handling all them fish.

We were ready for a break from the rain so we headed back to the cabin for dry clothes, dinner, and some cold ones.  It literally rained all day saturday and saturday night.  We woke up before daylight sunday morning and it was still coming down steady.  We decided to sleep in instead of getting back out in the rain.  We got up about 7:30, had a great breakfast, and just hung around the cabin most of the day.  We had some good dominos going and great fellowship.  Finally the rain broke about 1:00 so we went out and started calling for a tom.  We got about 5 minutes of calling in and the rain was back and coming down hard.  We all mutually decided to give up on the hunting and take it in.

After being out in the rain all day Saturday we just didn't feel like doing the same on Sunday.  But we all had a great time just hanging around at camp and escaping from the real world.  Saturday's fishing made it all worth while.
