Fishing line is cheap. I replace it every year, sometimes twice a year, because losing a good fish is a heart breaker....

I change mine every year, That way I know it is as strong as it can be. It also casts better with new line.

Sorry Guys/Gals,
I only fish when I cannot hunt.  When I fish it is for Bluegills/bream which usually weight less than a 1/4 pound.  I use 10 lb or less line with lightweight weights, long shank cricket hooks, and 1 inch bobber.  The line gets changed when it gets so it will not cast good on my lightweight rod/reel, then I put new line on!!!    ##$%#13

I don't change it enough... I do change every spring of the year.
I have a good friend that fishes a lot of tourneys and he changes the line before every tourney even if he used the Reel or not...

I test mine out by hand each season, I've had some last for several years. Like PJ though, I'm a perch jecker and use 8 - 10 # line and I use my flyrod too.

I changed mine every year.  At least I try to!  I don't necessarily change every reel but I do change my primary one.

I learned the hard way a few years ago when I had multiple line breaks when the big bass were hitting and I had no extra spools with me.

I don't change mine very often at all. But I should. I've been told you should change it every year, but different things can play on that. If it's exposed to sunlight constantly or stored in a case, etc. If you fish a lot, every year is worth the expense of the line.

I'm the same way in changing my line. If you will keep it in a cool dark place when not fishing, it will last much longer.
