Drakes First Fishing Trip
« on: March 16, 2010, 09:15:28 PM »
Well tomorrow will be my two and a half year old son Drake's first "Big Boy" fishing trip. We are going to fish for some perch. There are plenty smaller ones in the cuts now so he should be able to keep busy. Can't wait to see how he does.

Looking forward to pictures.  Have a good time, and Chico bear in mind that on this trip, you're not there to catch fish.  Your job is to make sure Drake catches some fish.

Yeah I am not fishing for dinner. I'm just making sure he has a great time. We may be there 20 minutes or 2 hours. It all depends on how he's doing and when he has had enough. Will post pics when we finish.

That's the way to do it Chico, let the kid dictate how much and how long the outing last. Will keep a "good" memory in their head the next time. Good Luck!

You guys will have a great time.  When I am fishing with my kids I always let them decided how long we fish, where we fish and what lures they want to use.  I give them my advice but let them decide.  I figure that is how they learn what to do an not to do.  All three of my kids have been fishing since they could hold a rod in their hands and now the all beg me to take them fishing.  Your right Chico it is all about them having fun at this point.  I can't wait to see picture and the bucket full of perch that dad has to clean. ;D

Well Drake caught plenty of fish. They came out of the minnow bucket!  He had to show me sumpin at bait store.  The translation is daddy I want these cheetos. We didn't catch anything but we did put some miles on the truck trying. He wants to try again tomorrow so we will see how it goes.
