Can't wait!
« on: February 26, 2010, 05:09:21 PM »
I am seriously ready for some Spring weather and some Turkey hunting! Based on what we saw during deer season, the prospects look great!

Click on these to watch the slide shows! Some dang nice gobblers and the farm I hunt in Southern Ohio is loaded with Turkeys!

I am looking forward to spring turkey hunting too, but I am a little concerned right now as to what the season will be like. We have been experience spring weather for most of this month. By the time the season starts they may be done mating this year.

I was fixing the slideshow links, hopefully it's good now. There's so dang many turkeys where I hunt that if I do a good job of scouting, it's more a matter of being in the right place & sitting tight rather than trying to be an expert caller. I'm more of a rookie turkey hunter so I try to not call to much! I just started in 2006.

I saw so dang many turkeys while I was sitting in tree stands deer hunting this year that I really have the fever for Spring. At one point, I had 18 gobblers/longbeards all within 100 yards from me out in a field off the edge of awoods where I was in a stand! We caught 2 different ones on trail cams that look like they have double beards! Here's one of them:

Did some way too early scouting today.  It's about 2 weeks before our private lands season opens here.  Public lands open up April 1st.  It's never too late to locate a few longbeards though.  Ran across a massive flock about 100 birds that will be broken up here in a couple weeks when the weather warms.  Can't wait to get after them again!

Our season opens March 20th. I saw several long beards during deer season. Should be an interesting season... @--0--0101 everyone!!!
