I always wondered what type of a digestive system they muct have to eat those things whole!

I got loads of pics from turkeys tearing my corn up!!!  I almost walked up on one yesterday eating my corn!!!

Wild turkeys, like their domestic cousins have a gizzard. They have to swallow small stones and gravel with their grain, etc. The gizzard then grinds the grain against the stones so it can all get pulverized then digested. Take a closer look inside the gizzard next time and you will find the stones. -Bill

they are digestive machines.  will eat pine needles etc. in winter with deep snow to survive here in michigan.

they will eat anything they can catch and fit down their neck.  I shot one in the fall a few years ago that had his craw full of walking sticks.

Wow that is neat just like if you pop a deer gut (i do not suggust it without a mask) and can see what a deer eats.

Don't cut all the way through if you are going to eat them, it makes them taste yucky.

I know they seem to love ripe mulberries.  I have a couple of mulberry trees in the back yard.  The turkeys were coming in almost daily to eat the mulberries.  eventually, they actually started flying up into the trees, to get the mulberries.  The 3 or 4 that flew up were busy getting their share, but all that moving around was shaking mulberries off the tree, and the turkeys on the ground were going crazy eating the falling berries.

Yelp they love those grains.......Corn and wheat is what they eat here mainly
