New 10 point
« on: August 23, 2008, 04:11:59 PM »
Just got my cam pics and was checking them out when a new deer appeared that I have never seen before. This is highly unusual around my place here in FL. I am watching these deer pretty closely and almost always know every single buck that I get a picture of. But this 10 point started showing up on August 17 and i have never layed eyes on him until I saw the pictures last night. He has been past my camera everyday since between 7:38 and 8:43. and then a few times in the evenings or at night. But every single morning for the last 6 mornings he has been on the camera. So, I had to get up at the crack of dawn this morning and go out to scout him from afar and see where he was coming from and how he was gettting there. Just like clockwork, I saw him leave a swamp on the ranch next to me about 7:50 and walk about 150 yards across an overgrown cow pasture and down into the creek that comes into my property. I have never seen a 10 point anywhere in FL before. I know they are around but I have never seen one and I have been stomping around these parts for a long time. I have lots of 8 points that I see almost daily but this deer just came out of nowhere. I wish i had a better game pic of him but here are a few. He looks pretty old to me, and much more so in person. Just the way he walked and to see him next to three other bucks that I know are 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old. He must have wayed 50 pounds more than these other deer. Man, I sure hope he sticks around for at least 2 more weeks. Bow season opens up on the 6th of Sep. ;D ;D

I am hoping so as well. I lined up a buddy to come over and film me that morning so I will be keeping the fingers crossed.

That is a nice looking buck you got there.  Hopefully he will continue this pattern for the next couple of weeks.
