8/21/08 TIP OF THE DAY.
« on: August 21, 2008, 09:54:04 AM »
TIP #1. WHEN WASHING YOUR HUNTING CLOTHES, ADD A 1/4 CUP OF BAKING SODA. WORKS BEST IF YOU PRE-MIX IN A CUP THEN POUR IN ARE DURING THE "RINSE" CYCLE.  TIP #2. MIX A SOLUTION ( AS DESCRIBED ABOVE ) OF 1/2 CUP BAKING SODA TO 10 PARTS WATER AND POUR IT IN YOUR EMPTY SCENT KILLER BOTTLE(S) IT WORK JUST AS GOOD. (AS ANY THAT YOU CAN BUY ). TIP #3. WHEN DRYING YOUR HUNTING CLOTHERS, POUR A 1/4 CUP OF BAKING SODA IN A CLEAN SOCK AND TIE A KNOT AT OPEN TOP HALF OF SOCK THEN TOSS THE SOCK IN THE DRYER WITH YOUR HUNTING CLOTHERS. (WHEN DONE PUT RIGHT INTO AIR TIGHT SCENT-BAG) .   TIP#4. ( NOW THIS IS FOR THE HARD CORE ONLY ) MAKE A WATER AND BAKING SODA SOLUTION AS A MOUTH RINSE TO NEUTRALIZE YOUR BREATH ODER. WORKS BEST IF YOU SWALLOW A LITTLE BIT OF THE MIX ( ABOUT 1/8 TO 1/4 CUP ) BUT WHEN YOU SWALLOW IT, YOU WILL GET A VERY BRIEF OH MY GOSH WHAT HAVE I DONE TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH  --7-8-9 BUT DONT BE TO SHOCKED BY THAT IT'S JUST THE BACTERIA AND ODER BEING ZAPPED AWAY. ( GOOD FOR YOU CHEW'ERS/DIPPER'S).

You would know what he is talking about if you have went to a pan selling party and they have you taste a mixture of baking soda and water that comes out of an aluminum pan.AGGGGH --7-8-9

I like to pour baking soda in a sock and then tie a knot in the end and just dust off with the sock. I use it on my clothes and my hands and it works well

great tip outdoorsman. Sort of like a rosin bag that pitchers use in baseball. I will give that one a try. Just might not want to use a dirty one that has not been washed huh? --099-780 --099-780

I've already been buying products to try this hunting season. I've got some unscented laundry detergent for my clothes, now I'll be buying a large box of Baking Soda for all of the tricks and ideas mentioned above. Thanks to all. I wonder if any one makes a bag to be used like a rosin bag. That mixture for the rinse cycle, do you think that can be put in the Downy Fabric ball instead of the fabric softener? Good ideas one and all.

for years we used baking soda to scent away our clothing but does anyone else notice that it seems to fade the camo pattern quicker?
