Colt and Ruger both have 22 six shots that use a mag and long cylinder interchangeable.  You have to swap then out to shot the different round.  I have both pistols.  You can only shoot the bullet that matches each cylinder.  So ...do not put a 22 long in the mag cylinder.

OK, let's break this down real simple.   You have a 22 pistol.  Out of the barrel of the 22 pistol a 22 mag or a 22 long bullet can be propelled out when fired when using the properly sized cylinder.

Each bullet requires that it be fired using the properly sized cylinder be placed in the cylinder holding hole.  Use the 22 mag cylinder only to fire the 22 mag ammo!  Use only the 22 long cylinder to fire the 22 long ammo.   You have to match the proper cylinder to the proper ammo.

There!  Now we are clear.  If it is still confusing, please sell this pistol and buy one that only fires a single specific round.     @--0--0131

In other words 22lr is smaller cartride than magnum in diameter as well as length and you would be asking for loads of trouble if you fire the lr through the mag cylinder.
