Another Day another Dollar
« on: October 01, 2009, 03:43:02 PM »
Went out Turkey Hunting this am...got in perfect position with my hunting buddy and turkeys came downhill stayed just out of range then left, next the big boys came and did the same thing..was unsuccessful today but I did feel successful saw 15-20 turkeys some big toms and 2 bucks and 3 does...not really a waste ;D and also saw some awesome deer sign a little early here...bucks were playing around with the does...this is about 3 to 4 weeks or more early around here...saw some scrapes under the trees....again usually this dosent happen for a while more @--0--0117

Well, I adjusted today and they disappeared, we sat for 6 hours saw a ton of squirrels and 1 fox who nailed himself a chipmunk, rained like heck, got wet.........but, I still enjoyed it @--0--0118

Now you have more excuses.....sorry, --099-780 reasons to get out in the woods.
Ethical hunting isn't just about perfect shot placement.  It's also the knowledge that you are an ethical hunter and a true sportsman.  Enjoy the hunt and the experience, whether you shoot something or not.   Live every day as if it's your last.
There's a reason it's called hunting, not shopping

Anytime you see game while hunting is a good day. Even if you don't see anything, the fresh air and just being in the woods away from it all is worth the experience.

Sounds like a great time to me. I'm sure you'll get those toms into range with a little work. Our season opens Monday and thanks to that four letter W word I'll not be able to go till the weekend @--0--0127

Good luck getting a big ole gobbler!

I sure would rather be in the woods seeing all that instead of staring @ this screen and hearing about others out having fun!

Thats how 99.9% of all us here feel! We believe that you don't have to harvest wildlife/game to have a good day in the field. Thats just a bonus! If all we cared about was putting meat in the freezer then we would just be poachers and not sportsman.  @--0--0104

Sounds to me that you did have a pretty good day.  During my early deer hunting years, I felt that if I just got to see some deer, I had a good season.  I'm glad those years have passed away.

Went out this morning during a break in the rain and saw 10-15 turkeys, in range, never pulled the trigger.

It was a hen with ~15 chicken sized poults still with her.  Couldn't leave them parentless going into winter.  Is it late for them to still be with mom?

nope, jaeger, they flock together till spring..then they'll split up duting mating time...don't worry the poults dont need mom for the winter...they'll make out good with their aunt or someone else..they are very adaptable aqnd are independent right now @--0--0118
