Remington 887?
« on: September 08, 2009, 07:58:23 AM »
Hey, anyone shot the new Remington 887 yet?  I'm thinking of getting one and I'm curious...  I talk to the guys up at Jay's over the weekend...they've sold a few but don't have any feedback yet.  From the reviews it sounds like a nice shooter and extremely durable.  the only thing I don't like is that they don't have any barrel options for it yet.  I think it'd be a good turkey gun if they had a shorter barrel.  I really don't need to worry about slug barrels since I use my 454 and it has a longer range any ways.  I would have to get a black one since they only offer camo in a realtree covering...wouldn't want to get caught shooting that one....

Well, I went down to Cabelas last night and picked up my new Remington 887!  I called last Friday and they were out and didn't think they'd get any more for a few weeks... I decided to call Monday morning just to see...and I lucked out...really lucked out.  They just got in 4 and 3 were already sold so I had them put my name on the last one.  I gave it a good once over before I left with it....  It shoulders very nicely and easily.  It is lighter than you would think but still feels solid.  It looks kinda funny with the barrel having the armorkot around it and the vent rib built in... I need to break it down and pull the trigger assembly out, clean it and oil it (lightly) before I take it to the range... soon I hope!

(BTW: only $340.00 plus tax at Cabelas....)

Nice looking piece, I have decided to look for a shotgun and didn't know what to start with. I think I now have a good starting point. Let us know how the new toy shoots, you will be out TH gun review for the month.
