got a .22-250 with 55 grain soft points which seem to do a great job on yotes for me.  but reading more about 6mm rifles being better for stopping power if wounded so they don't get into a heavy swamp or hole before bleeding out.  what is everyone's opinion on this?

 I reload .223 40 v-max at about 3500fps , it's all about shot placement .

I can't imagine a 22-250 not putting a yote down...if the shot placement is good....  I'd think you wouldn't need a 6mm unless you're realy looking at a longer range shot.

Yeah these guys said it. If you feel comfortable with the shot then you should be good.

I personally like my .243(6mm) any better nah if you dont hit em right it dont matter if you do hit em right its all over, whatever you like, the 6mm is just a little more versatile for other things, .22 is mainly varmint caliber only IMO.

I use a Bushmaster Varminteer in 223 caliber for coyote hunting. It shoots out to 300yds pretty good. I do my own reloading. Also have the new Remington R-25 which is in the 243 caliber, I have not started to reload for that one yet. I think that the 223 still seems to be a little more accurate.

I think 22-250 is the ultimate varmint caliber.  6mm is a great versatile round, but strictly speaking of yote hunting I would stick with the 22-250 or 223.
