Congrats Treefarmer.  This is what you need to help you out of the bad luck streak regarding the storms and damage you guys have endured.  Congrats once again.

No need to apologize for what you put in the freezer, size only matters when you try to fill the belly. Congrats on a fine deer, he won't go to waste and the antlers can make a great chew toy for the dog.

In Memory Of.... / Re: Chipper's Dad, Ol' Roy

Many thanks to all for the kind words and thoughts.  Ol Roy's passing at age 90 leaves me with bittersweet sadness for the times we once had, that can never be relived, only remembered.  But his death was no tragedy, only the natural culmination of a life well lived.  It's a part of the natural process of life here on God's green earth.  But he left a legacy and a family that will live on long after he has departed, and will honor his memory.  Peace, out!

Yari, she's 1/2 Chocolate Lab and 1/2 Red merle Australian Shepard .  They are a hybrid known as an "Aussiedor".  This one looks like a pile of leaves in the yard!  She is my wife's dog, she is gun shy and thunder causes her to become very nervous.  When she was almost a year old, I shot a buck from a shooting house on our place.  He ran and I saw him flip out in some planted pines.  So I went to the house and brought her back to the spot where the deer was hit to see what she would do.  She trailed him and has been a pretty good blood trailer ever since.  She doesn't bark when she finds a deer so you have to pay attention as she works out the trail, she'll find the deer and move on.  Several weeks ago a friend shot a doe with a crossbow and he was unable to find her because of so much storm damage, trees down, etc.   The deer was shot on  Saturday afternoon, he mentioned it a church on Sunday. Right after church I took "Flossie" to the sight of the crime and within 15 minutes she had found the doe that had been dead about 18 hours  Thankfully it was cool and the deer was not spoiled and the coyotes hadn't found her.
