Title: WalleyBlast Report
Post by: [Blocked] on April 19, 2018, 08:34:38 AM
 ##$#@#$% OOOPPPS Wrong  ^^&&$%GT Better

A good time was had by all. The weather just was not in our favor this year. GEE!!! Imagine that. Global warming my _ _ _!!!!!  ##$%#15

As usual we had a great time. Just getting together with our TH family is always FANTASTIC! We put some fish in the boat but left some for seed.

Yours truly fulfilled my knuckle dependency. MI_B and others took a lot of pics. When MI_B gets done turkey hunting with HuntMaster & bugfixer in KY I'm sure he'll be posting them.  ##$%#113

I'll let the "crew" add their own experiences now.

It was a great trip, never fished in the snow before until this trip. Learned how to surf on a boat and yes Dutch has been replaced as the jig holder by none other than Splittoe. Dutch and I had to dehook him several times. Also never saw a first mate get sea sick until this trip, Dutch had to feel in and may now have a permanent job. Ureka!!!!  I found a way to speed up cleaning to get more time at Porky's. Captain Randy has to train "Ol' Minnow" the first mate to fillet like this.

I would never point out a boob boo to this guy. ##$%#15

Good thing I didn't go fishing with you guys.  With that rough water, I would have been "chumming" if you know what I mean.

looks like someone needed a stone to sharpen the knife. was that a bubba knife?

the only time i like wind is for working. keeps the bugs away. wind and fishing drive me nuts

There might have been a chumming of the waters but I am not at liberty to confirm or deny that occurrence or rumor of said incident.

I will be leaving KY with more in my cooler than I did in Oak Harbor.   ;D

it sounds like you guys might have missed it by 1 week. i get a walleye fishing report weekly. someone reported trolling w/ stickbaits for 3 days and caught 56 walleyes over 28". it's a huge lake and i don't remember where they were. i'm not a big troller, but those are impressive numbers --7-8-9

it goes in streaks. we had a tough trip to LOTW last summer. i'm expecting a big trip this year @--0--0131 @--0--0131

glad you had a good time. that's the best part anyway. i'm sure there were no untruths being told at all @--0--0105

The weather took it's toll on all of us and we just never got it going with the fish...that being said we had a great time and the fellowship was awesome!

I sure hope this doesn't go to Gut's head. After talking to him today I guess he IS the good luck charm. He and some friends of his were the next group out on Rippin' Lips. They just nailed it. Limited out two of the days (28 in cooler). The lake finally laid down Thursday night. Water temp came up as well as clarity.

I still had a great time, the fellowship is top shelf. Looking forward to next year. It's always a fantastic happening.

Now for a completely honest and unbiased summary of this years trip. Jap51 & I had to carry the load for the other slackers. Even the first mate and captain got skunked. I'm so glad I'm a humble person (not afraid to admit it either) and would never EVER gloat, I'm sure Jap feels the same.

Monday the lake was pretty rough. With 3-6 fot waves and the occasional 8-9. Air temp was a balmy 34 degrees. Wind out of west southwest at 15-18 knots. There was snow and ice pellets in the wind. IOW pretty brutal. Tuesday wasn't much better just no ice and snow. However Rippin' Lips was covered with a light dusting of snow, which made for treacherous early footing. Then on Wednesday we had absolutely no wind and flat water. This makes for even tougher fishing.

In one of MI_B's pictures you'll see a nukie cooling tower. That tower disappeared when a sqawl came across the lake at one point.

All in all extremely happy to have participated just wish the rookie Jap hadn't boated more fish than I. Always next year.

BTW Somebody ask MI_B what is's like to have Lake Erie give you a facial.

Well guys and gals, I would have much rather be on board the Rippin Lipz with you as bad as it was, than where I had to be. That being said, the short time I got to spend with everyone was great. Dutch was right, those Erie facials can be brutal when it's below 35 degrees.

I did get back to the lake on Thursday evening and got two and a half days of fishing in with two other charters. As Dutch said the lake laid down, temps came up and water clarity was awesome. We put a total of 76 walleye in the cooler over 2.5 days. Sunday morning was something special, I had never experienced before. We dropped the first lines at around 6:30am and we were off the lake by 7:30am with a full limit (28), we did about a half mile to 3/4 mile drift, with many doubles and a couple triples, Capt. Randy was one busy dude for 45 minutes. The guys were on their way home by 8:30am after all the fish were cleaned.

We will plan for next years (2019) Walleye Blast soon.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but it's taken me a few weeks to thaw out. It was a great time and I enjoyed the fellowship with Capt. Randy, Gut, Dutch, MI_Bowhunter always glad to see TH family. Dutch you are soooo right about feeling embarrassed because a rookie caught the most fish and I think I caught the biggest fish too. But you have a full year to think about it and I know you will be ready to take on the challenge next year. Hope to see you and Gut hunting season this year down here in Georgia.
