Title: Gearhead Archery
Post by: [Blocked] on July 30, 2017, 01:55:19 PM
I haven't been to any of the outdoor shows for a few years, so I'm probably just out of touch, but saw a couple of things at the Peoria show on Friday that really intrigued me.

An outfit named Gearhead Archery had some funky looking compound bows that caught my eye.  The risers were split, allowing a true centershot and could be easily converted for a right or left hand shooter.  The incredible thing is they have one with an 18" axle to axle length.  They had a test area set up, but I've buggered up my shoulder again and am trying to behave myself in hopes I can be ready for Oct bow season, so I didn't try one.  Love the compactness, but really wonder about the stability of something that small & light.  Here's a link to their site:    https://www.gearheadarchery.com/collections/compound-bows

Another unique item I saw were some light (10 grain) stainless steel serrated blade sets that simply fit behind a FIELD POINT (?) and serve as your hunting head.  They had a pile of pictures there at the booth that looked pretty impressive in terms of entry & exit wounds, but man, those things are frail looking.  I may buy a pack & try them for vermin (raccoons, etc) but not sure I'd be comfortable taking a shot at a deer with one (yet, at least)  Any of you guys heard of these?  http://www.all-blade.com/

did you hear the bows being shot? was it loud? they seem like they would vibrate w/ all the thin pieces

as for the heads, i'm not sold. they look tinny and fragile.

Those bows are nice.

Ive seen the all blade before, they were a topic of discussion on a crossbow forum a while back. It's an updated version of a small game blade that has been around for a long time. In theory it should function like a fixed blade broadhead but  I also still have reservations about using it for deer or bigger game.
