Title: Range Results 6-11-2015
Post by: [Blocked] on June 12, 2015, 03:37:12 AM
Got out to the range today with the Cooper M52 in 280, a Cooper M22 in 7x57, a Kimber 8400 20" barrel in 308 and finally a CZ 455 with the 17 HMR barrel installed. It was very hot, very humid, gusty winds, thunderstorms in the area and the BP was 30.10 when I got there and 30.01 when around 9 PM when I left. In other words it was miserable weather. We almost had the range to ourselves. Constantly drinking water to stay hydrated. Mirage was not a factor at 100 yards.

All targets shown here was shot at 100 yards. All were from clean barrels. First two shots were fouling shots and was not recorded on paper but was in shot count.

The first target is my old 7X57 in a single shot Cooper M22, second target is from a Kimber 8400 in 308, it is one of my many short heavy barrel rifles. Wasn't sure of the load, still not but it is a good group. Third target is from the new to me Frenchie, the Cooper M52 in 280. Nice group especially since this ammo was for another rifle. The last target was from the CZ 455 with the 17 HMR barrel installed. I have a 22 Mag and a 22 LR barrel for it, but love the way the 20 grain shoots. The 20 grain shoots better than the 17 grain does. Want to get the Lilja 17 Mach 2 barrel for it. The $395 price tag has stopped me on more than one occasion from getting one.

Enjoy and all the comments are welcome...Bo

For shooting in such miserable weather, those are pretty nice groups.  That's the kind of weather that makes me retreat to my workshop in the basement, where it's nice and cool.  I don't do well in hot and humid weather.

That's some nice groups Bo...I'm like Louie I hate shooting in really hot and humid conditions.

One of the first things I notice was that first shot! Notice where it was on the Cooper 7x57 and the Kimber #2 308? Both shots were dead center then after that, I drifted higher in each case. Maybe I should have shot just one time...LOL...no thanks..that is just not me.
