I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a cross bow after studying them a bit. With the old shoulders and elbows starting to complain pretty good I decided to go for it. I decided on the Mission (made by Mathews) MXB 320. It is an entry level bow but the reason I selected it as it was the quietest bow of all that I tested. It is also the most compact and only weighs 6.5 pounds. I also decided that I will now hunt turkeys with the cross bow and put the old shotgun away as the thrill is calling them in and I have not taken a turkey with the bow yet. In New York we can only use the cross bow during the last two weeks of the season but those two weeks are usually the prime of our rut. Looking forward to this new experience and will still use my compound during the rest of the season.

Congrats Fox. Enjoy the new toy. I hope to acquire one soon myself.

Yes, the southern part of NY got 14 days, here in the northern part we got only 10 days which includes the 7 days of early muzzleloader. only 3 days of crossbow in my book, but will try the crossbow during turkey season

Congrats and enjoy it!
You may want to consider this especially if you hunt out of a ground blind

Thank you Flintlock1776,
I hunt almost exclusively from a ladder stand but that is one fine rest.

nice work. I hear you about the joints. just got done shooting and I have some aches. good luck

I also added a Mission Dagger to my hunting tools last year.
I took a nice doe with it and allows hunters more flexibility with
the longer season.
Good luck and look seriously into getting a shooting rest. I missed
out on another doe as she didn't give me enough time to set up the
crosshairs! %^$^

There is one for ladder stands, although I may want to apply a darkest paint
