Title: Shots NOT to take.
Post by: [Blocked] on September 02, 2011, 11:09:13 AM
Found this article and although most are common sense, some might be tempting.  Good reading.

That's right, T-Hunter.   Broadside or quartering away only.                      %^$^

Good point. I see a lot of "professionals" on TV that take the quartering to shot a lot.  I took one the first year I bow hunted, but I wouldn't now that I've got more learning under my belt.

Good article.  Common sense isn't very common, even with the "pros" on TV.

Great info - we owe it to the animals to take shots that will end with a quick, humane kill.

You are right, they are common sense but I have seen some DUMB things happen in the woods.

Good reminders...I am sad to admit my first deer with a bow was the straight down show.  I believed it was gimme.  However, after a long tracking and no deer I realized maybe it wasn't such a good idea.  I found the deer a week later.  Only to claim it because of the top half of my arrow was among the remains.  That has been many years ago and was a good lesson learned.

some of them would not even be a good shot with a rifle. to bad more folks did not use a bit more common sense when deciding on if to take a shot

Great article and pictures.  I have one to add as well....Don't shoot beyond your personal consistent effective range.  Too risky to miss the vitals and wound the animal.  And I know, it could be tempting seeing a big buck only about 7 - 10 yards beyond your personal effective range but not worth the chance.  If your consistent effective range with your bow is at 30 yards then limit shots at game to 30 yards, etc...!
